**Description:**
Generative AI tools have democratized software development, enabling both developers and non-technical users to build applications efficiently. However, these tools struggle with enterprise-level challenges: inadequate project planning, unstructured workflows, poor enterprise integration, and inconsistent code quality.
Kiro, AWS's AI IDE tool, addresses these gaps by integrating specification-driven development, structural design, test validation, and automated execution into a standardized, traceable workflow.
At re:Invent 2025, AWS launched “Kiro Powers”—extensible capability packages that inject domain-specific expertise into Kiro AI agents. Each Power provides:
\- Domain guidance via steering files \(POWER\.md\)
\- Tool integration \(MCP services for databases\, payments\, deployment\)
\- Automated Hooks for event\-driven actions \(API testing\, infrastructure code generation\)
Unlike traditional coding assistants, Kiro + Powers covers the entire development lifecycle—from requirements to deployment—while reducing token costs and ensuring consistent code quality.
We'll demonstrate Kiro's capabilities by building a game using Specs, Powers, and Hooks, showcasing its enterprise-grade advantages in planning, automation, and quality assurance.

**Topic: Project Cool Down: Build a Smart AC AI with Python 🥵🧊**
Are you melting? Let’s fix that with code. 🫠
In this hands-on workshop, we are turning a standard Python IoT tutorial into a gamified Smart Home Engineering Challenge! You don’t need to bring a physical AC. We have built several localized "Smart Home Servers" (Raspberry Pi 4 clusters) that will simulate a real-world environment. You will compete in teams to write the ultimate Python control script.
**What You Will Do:**
* **Level 1 (Hello World):** Connect to our local cluster API and get the virtual AC running.
* **Level 2 (Wallet Saver):** Electricity is expensive! Integrate the API to check real-world HK weather. Only turn the AC on if it's actually hot outside.
* **Level 3 (Compressor Protection):** Real-world GPS is noisy. Code hysteresis and cool-down algorithms to protect the AC compressor from exploding due to rapid On/Off toggling.
* **Level 4 (The Boss Fight):** The Wife Acceptance Factor (W.A.F). Handle complex, multi-user logic to ensure the AC stays on if someone else is still at home!
Your code will be tested against our "Chaos Generator"—a 10-minute simulation of a messy, real-world day. Gain points for comfort, lose points for wasting electricity or breaking the hardware.
**Capacity:** 32 (Strictly limited to 6-8 teams)
**Venue Info:**
City University of Hong Kong, Kowloon Tong (Exact Location TBC)
**Rundown:**
16:00 - 16:10 Opening Remarks, Team Formation & Wi-Fi Setup

This session explores practical implementations of AI agents for financial services on AWS. Discover how to design multi-agent systems with the Strands Agents framework and Bedrock AgentCore for complex financial workflows—from quantitative backtesting to AI fund manager.
You'll learn multi-agent patterns, and agent orchestration techniques. Walk away with concrete architectural patterns and implementation strategies for building production-ready AI agents in finance.
**Governing AI Agents in Production: From Experiment to Engineering System**
*[Mike Ng](https://www.linkedin.com/in/ngsinching/) \- ex\-AWS Community Builder*
Time: 2:30 pm
Most AI governance discussions assume AI will "do the right thing" with properguidelines. This talk takes a different approach: assume drift, error, and
misalignment by default, then design mechanical structures that make bad
behavior expensive.
The core idea: systems are defined by what they refuse to do, not what they
can do. For AI in production, governance means explicit rejection zones,
constitutional constraints that cannot be bypassed, and separation between
decision-making and execution.
Five governance patterns: constitutional constraints (forbidden states and
behaviors), rejection zones (where AI cannot operate), separation of powers
(decision ≠ execution ≠ validation), retrieval-led reasoning (grounding over
pre-training), and mechanical enforcement (architecture over policy).
Developed while preparing experimental multi-agent systems for production
deployment in FinTech, where mistakes are irreversible and governance is
survival, not choice.

*Bowtie Life Insurance*
Time: 3:00 pm
Scaling AI-assisted development from a few enthusiasts to 50+ software engineers isn't just about API keys - it's about governance, trust, and standardized workflows. How do you prevent "shadow AI" and budget chaos while granting safe access to production context?
At Bowtie, we adopted a layered security-first approach: First, control the traffic; second, secure the tools; third, standardize the behavior.
This session covers our journey building a production-grade Vibe coding platform:
Layer 1: The AI Gateway (LiteLLM on AWS Fargate + Amazon RDS)
We established a centralized choke point for all AI traffic. This enables cost attribution, DLP detection, and usage visibility. Crucially, we enforce this at the network level - blocking direct access to non-official API providers to ensure all usage is visible and governed.
Layer 2: Security-First MCP servers
We treat AI agents as "CLI versions" of our internal web apps. By building custom Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers that reuse existing permissions and authentications - using Amazon Cognito for internal APIs and OAuth for official SaaS MCP servers - the AI acts as a delegate of the developer with human approvals. No new service accounts, no "god-mode" bots - if you can't do it in the existing user interfaces, the Agent can't do it via MCPs.
Layer 3: Custom Skills for Standardization
Beyond just tools, we write custom Skills to guide the model's behavior, ensuring generated code aligns with our engineering standards and SOPs (e.g. grab a ticket, fetch knowledge base, apply a fix, close the ticket) before a PR is even opened.
Walk away with an architectural blueprint for democratizing AI access that satisfies the strictest security requirements while giving developers the friction-free vibe coding experience they crave.
**What can go wrong when you ask your agent to go naughty?**
*[Richard Fan](https://www.linkedin.com/in/richardfan1126/) \- AWS Hero \| An independent security researcher*
Time: 3:30 pm
We security folks all want to secure the AI agents, restricting their capability, putting guardrails, using system prompts, ... just to make sure the agents don't go rogue.
But what if the AI agent is specifically designed to do bad things? Suddenly, the rule is changed. The instructions are encouraging agents to make harm, and the guardrails are half-opened, so as to allow the agent to do its job. In this scenario, what can go wrong?
In this session, Richard will talk about AWS Security Agent, an AI agent designed to do automated penetration tests. He will share the security issues he found on the agent and highlight the challenges when building agents that simulate harmful actions.

**Topic: The Intelligent Assembly Line: Designing Multi-Agent Workflows with ADK TS**
How I Failed the Decision Tree and Built a Better Squad
How do we know if we are building a real agent or just over-engineering a simple script? I discovered the answer when my own YouTube project failed the Google Decision Tree, proving I was using a helicopter to cross the street. To solve this, I built an Agent Architect squad using the Agent Development Kit (ADK) for TypeScript, moving from fragile prompts to a structured Intelligent Assembly Line. This talk explores how a squad of agents evaluates your ideas through four key patterns: a loop for self-correcting discovery, a smooth handoff between specialized agents, a logic check to catch bad ideas early and save money, and a final report for strategic advice. We will examine the visual flows and reasoning required to build a system that thinks for itself, ensuring your AI projects are truly agent-shaped and cost-effective.

**Topic: The Great Equalizer: Breaking Career and Generational Patterns with AI**
**AI — 終極平等化工具:打破職涯與世代的既定慣性**
For a long time, we have been told that our career "patterns" are set by our early training. If you didn’t study film, you couldn't be a film creator. If you didn't study engineering, you couldn't be a technologist. We were trapped by the "skill gap."
In this talk, Bonnie challenges this rigid structure by sharing her personal pattern break. Despite a 20-year career in venture capital and engineering, Bonnie had zero video production/ media skills. Yet, using AI as her "production crew," she built YOLO 街, which became a 2025 Top Trending YouTube channel in Hong Kong.
In the age of AI, prior “learned skills” are no longer the bottleneck. If you have the curiosity, AI provides the technical execution, allowing for radical career pivots in both directions.
This isn't just about making videos—it’s about a fundamental shift in how we acquire power in the workforce. She will demonstrate how AI acts as a "Capability Equalizer" that works in both directions:
In the AI era, your curiosity is your only real limit. If a venture capitalist can become a top creator with no prior skills, then the reverse is also true: the tools to become a technologist or a strategist are now in everyone's hands.

**Dr. Pui Wah Choi**
Founder & CEO, WomenX Biotech
Dr. Pui-Wah Choi is a pioneering scientist and entrepreneur dedicated to transforming women’s health through innovative biotechnology. After completing her postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School, she founded WomenX Biotech Limited in Hong Kong, focusing on groundbreaking health solutions tailored specifically for women.
WomenX aims to revolutionize disease screening with PadX-HPV, a sanitary pad that detects HPV—the primary cause of cervical cancer—from menstrual blood. This non-invasive technology seeks to increase HPV screening rates across Asia from a mere 30% to an ambitious 80%, addressing cultural barriers and busy schedules that often hinder women's access to essential health services.
The potential of WomenX’s pads extends beyond HPV detection; they are also designed to monitor reproductive health, fertility, and microbiome status, offering a holistic approach to women’s health management. This innovation empowers women to better understand their bodies and make informed health decisions.
In January 2025, WomenX introduced PadX-HPV, the first non-invasive product in Hong Kong to detect HPV types linked to cervical cancer directly from menstrual blood through a sanitary pad. With an accuracy rate of 99.2%, PadX has been in high demand since its launch, selling out multiple times.
In addition to her emphasis on technological progress, Dr. Choi is deeply committed to creating social impact and empowering women. This year, she will install 100 vending machines for sanitary pads throughout Hong Kong, placing them in schools, shopping malls, and NGOs. On one hand, this initiative fosters a more gender-friendly environment; on the other, the machines will also provide educational materials on menstrual health, menstrual shame, and first menstruation management. More importantly, the sanitary pad vending machine project will create thousands of job opportunities for low-income and single mothers, allowing them to regain economic participation without sacrificing caregiving responsibilities.
Dr Choi was selected as the Prestige Women or Power 2025, Jessica Most successful women, Tatler Front & Female and Foundess 2025. Additionally, WomenX Biotech won the Slingshot competition in the biomed domain (under Singapore Enterprise), achieving the 0.17% tier, as well as the Standard Chartered SC WIN competition and multiple international innovation championships.

**Why Design Matters: First Impressions Count by Zee Khamaruldin**
We all know most WordPress sites start with a similar structure, but what really makes people stop, look, and stay is the design. Colours, fonts, images, and even white space all come together to create that all-important first impression. Get it right, and your site feels inviting and trustworthy.
In this session, Zee will show how design can completely change the way a site feels, even when the content is exactly the same. Whether you’re building your first site or levelling up, you’ll walk away with practical ideas to make your websites stand out. You’ll see side-by-side how design choices shape the experience with examples of websites done in Kadence and Elementor Pro.
\* The speaker will deliver her talk live via Zoom.

**About Lunatechs**
Lunatechs is a community for people crazy about technology — founders, developers, AI builders, creators, and tech enthusiasts. Our casual events are designed to get you outside, connect with fellow builders, and have a good time.
**IMPORTANT:** Please register on Luma for accurate headcount: https://luma.com/loy2t89b
Come for another casual gathering and chat with peers in the software & technology community. Bring your smile and relax with a refreshing drink.
**Concept** 🍻
It works simple:
1. feel free to arrive and leave at any time during the event
2. get yourself a drink at the bar or convenience store
3. say hi to someone in the group and chat away.
**How to find us?** 👀
Bart/Stephen usually wear something that is easy to spot in a crowd. Often it's a bright coloured t-shirt or something orange themed. Have a look at past photos of meetups to recognise him. Moreover, we usually stand close to the bar.
**Venue** 📍
**The Beer Bay** is an **outdoor kiosk/bar**, situated at the walkway between the Central Ferry Piers, at the ground level **entrance of Central Ferry Pier #4** (to Lamma Island). There's plenty of space to stand, and various places to get drinks. Usually lots of people in conversation, and an overall casual and relaxed atmosphere. In summer it can get hot and sweaty, and winter a bit cold, but drinks are refreshing and nothing beats that skyline!
**Toilets** 🚻
There is a public toilet at the end of the piers near pier 2, or you could walk to the IFC shopping mall nearby.
**Drinks** 🍺🍷🍹🥤
The Beer Bay serves refreshing alcoholic drinks, such as cold drafts, wine and plenty of mixers too. There are also non-alcoholic options from other stands and convenience stores around as well.
See you on Friday Apr 10!
**NOTE**: Event registration is managed on [Luma](https://luma.com/n80qyc1m) (https://luma.com/n80qyc1m). We had double the capacity register last time, so please include your Linkedin page or your company/position/interest area for us to help accept your registartion. And arrive early as we will allow entry based on first come first serve day of.
